Kevin Roberts talks No Timid Souls

I think the world is ready for a brand that celebrates inner strength and celebrates human endeavor. What's more cool than people having a crack at something, whether it be on their own or in a team environment. And just going through the graft and the ups and downs, the uncertainty, the falls, and getting themselves up again and going again. Life's not a straight line, performing in sport's not a straight line. Whether you want to run a 10KM or you want to set a world record. And I'm just so inspired by people having a crack and wanted to create a brand with Tim that celebrated that.

So we're going to be celebrating everyone from those people who are running their first 10KM to the elite athlete, who is after a world record or the team that want to win a world cup. We're going to be celebrating that sense of endeavorand the sense of putting themselves out there, making sacrifices, making choices, and being dedicated to a really important cause. And we want to share their stories and inspire others through those stories as well.

Tim and I were chatting about what we were going to call this business of ours. And Tim said, I'm not sure if you've come across this speech by Theodore Roosevelt, The Man in the Arena. I said, you're kidding. That is something that is so dear to me. It's who I try to be. It's what I try to stand for. To be out there, having a crack. It doesn't always go your way, but by putting yourself out there again, and again, you experience that journey of ups and downs, and you learn how to bounce back and to go forward. And so it was an amazing meeting of the minds of two people in Tim and I who've known each other since he ran at the Atlanta Olympics, but didn't know how much this speech meant to both of us. And at that moment, we both said, there's a name somewhere in the spirit of this speech. And it became No Timid Souls. And from there, No Timid Souls was born.
